Ohio Cross State Bicycle Maps

$7.00 per route

3 ½ by 8 ½ inches with a scale of one inch equals two miles.  They are placed unbound in a plastic bag for easy use.  A description by miles, directions, and turn is provided with a listing of motels, campgrounds, and food locations.  These routes, on county and state routes, allow a bicyclist to reach most major Ohio population centers on the lowest traffic volume roads, in that area, while staying on paved roads.

Cardinal Trail is a route from New Paris (Richmond IN) to Petersburg OH (Youngstown area).  The trail is through the heart of the state and near many major population centers.  The topography varies from rolling and flat in the west to hilly in the east.

Route A connects Cincinnati with Toledo along the west side of Ohio.  The route starts at the Indiana border on US 50, going near Middletown, Dayton, and Vandalia.  The route has only a few areas of heavy traffic.  The few hills on the southern portion are remarkable in that there are so few of them considering the glaciated nature of the area.  For many miles north of Piqua the route is near the Miami & Erie Canal.

Route B connects Cincinnati to Marietta.  Of all the cross state routes, this one is the most beautiful.  Once past Cincinnati it has little urban traffic.  The route goes through the famous Hocking Hills area of Ohio.  The sandstone outcroppings and pine forests give a unique character to the area.  The route varies from hilly to rolling.

Route C from Cincinnati to Cleveland goes diagonally across Ohio. The route name “C” was chosen after motor vehicle route “3 C Highway” connecting the same cities. The topography is flat in the middle and rolling on the ends.  The route follows the Little Miami Scenic River Bikeway, that is now off-road from Milford to Xenia using the state park bike path.

Route E from Portsmouth to Toledo does not follow the route of the Tour of the Scioto River Valley, but uses roads with less traffic.  The southern half is very hilly before Chillicothe.  There are a few hills in the Bellefontaine area, otherwise, the route is nearly flat.

Route F connects to the Indiana trail system to Richmond and beyond.  The west half is rolling to nearly flat after South Charleston.  The route becomes hilly east of Pleasantville and near McConnelsville it is very hilly.  The east end connects to Moundsville WV.  This alternate to US 40 across Ohio is pleasant and keeps you off the interstate around Cambridge where US 40 uses I-70.

Route J is from Marietta to Conneaut.  The southern scenic part is very hilly and the middle becomes more rolling.  The north end is flatter.  The route must use state routes in the south as nearly all county roads are gravel.

Routes K&N are packaged together.  Both routes start at the Indiana border on the road leading to Monroeville IN (16 miles SE of Ft Wayne).  Routes K&N split 7 miles east of Cloverville.  Route K connects to the Cardinal Trail at Mifflin.  Route N proceeds NE to hilly Cleveland Metro Parks.  Route N exits the state on SR 176 (PA SR 198) near Conneautville PA.  There is an alternate ending on the US 20 in Conneaut OH.  A route is also included taking the bicyclist to Cedar Point Amusement Park.
