Here's your invitation to GOBA, an American classic adventure! Come and make the time to appreciate our grand country and its people. Share the cycling satisfaction and the inspiration that 8 days in June with 3,000 new friends can provide. The 2002 route in Central Ohio, while mostly flatter than the 2002 route, will provide varied terrain with some hills, scenic attractions, and a comforting reminder about all that's good and decent about our American way of life. As usual the tour features 6 days of riding punctuated by a day with welcoming festivities and a mid-week day of cycling and non-cycling options.

Highlights: - Tent camping at a mixture of fairgrounds, college campuses, and city parks - 45-65 miles per day with a total of 300-350 cycling miles for the 6 days of travel - Exciting professional bicycle racing for your entertainment - Traditional Song Contest

Saturday, June 15, 2002: Delaware - Delaware rolls out the red chainring for GOBA, thanks to a vigorous MainStreet organization, and attractions like the Arts Castle, Perkins Observatory, and a Downtown on the National Register of Historic Places.

Sunday, June 16, 2002: Delaware to Newark (54 miles) - Flat to rolling Newark, a town of many facets, will intrigue you with its majestic courthouse, Heisey Glass Museum, Institute of Industrial Technology, Octagon Indian Mound, and YMCA pool right on the bike path.

Monday, June 17, 2002: Newark to Lancaster (55 miles) - This day has it all: flat to gently rolling to hilly Relax at day's end at the Fairgrounds or take advantage of all that Lancaster offers: food from the simple to the sublime, movies in air-conditioned comfort, and peeks into the past at The Georgian or Sherman House.

Tuesday, June 18, 2002: Lancaster to Chillicothe (55 miles) - Rolling to hilly Chillicothe, first capital of Ohio, is abuzz with plans for an enticing array of activities, such as the Tecumseh outdoor drama, historic town tours, music, Pump House Art Center, Majestic Theatre, Adena, the restored mansion of the 6th governor of Ohio, or swimming, right in the Park.

Wednesday, June 20, 2001: Chillicothe (Layover day with options) - Optional cycling (rolling to hilly): century route (with cutoffs) through the Hocking Hills and Tar Hollow State Park. Optional Trips: Choose (1) canoeing coupled with hiking or (2) a combination of Indian mounds and farm adventure Or: do your laundry and take a nap under your very own tree!

Thursday, June 20,2002: Chillicothe to London (65 miles) - Rolling to flat London, a favorite cycling destination, will become your favorite, too, with the luscious temptations of the Annual Strawberry Festival, the refreshing pool nearby, the can't-miss Madison County Historical Museum complex, and the future site of the Ohio-to-Erie Trail.

Friday, June 21, 2002: London to Marysville (45 miles) - Flat to gently rolling To celebrate your last night, Marysville opens its doors to you with a concert in the summer air and food choices for every palate.

Saturday, June 22, 2002: Marysville to Delaware (45 miles) - Flat Return to Delaware where a festive welcome and surprises await!

Expect additional costs for food, lodging other than primitive tent camping with GOBA, side trips and some activities. Details and prices will appear in either the GOBA brochure (in January) or in newsletters (mailed in the Spring to registrants).
