Help Wanted
Party in the Park 2003

By Keith Finn

Party in the Park (PIP) was one of the best events offered by COP. But alas, it has died. One of our goals is to revive Party in the Park for 2003, but we need help. The big killer of PIP was leader burnout (too much to do, to few to do it). I would like to see PIP revived as a simpler event, but still chock full of PIP-ness.

Some examples that would make PIP much easier on the leaders:

Choose one permanent site (such as the Yellow Springs site used by the last PIP) People bring/cook their own food (the first PIP had a corn roast, and maybe we could provide big grills or something. But providing food for a big crowd is TOO MUCH!) To make this event survivable by the leaders, we must simplify simplify simplify

What makes PIP harder to run than other events

Diversity of activities (we try to represent as many COP activities as possible)

Diversity of volunteers (each activity needs volunteers to showcase the event)

Diversity of participants (designed as a family event, you get a broad range of age and interest)

Are you interested in a challenge like this? We need 2-3 motivated leaders to get PIP back on track for 2003. It won't be easy, but it will be very rewarding. Remember - the purest metal comes from the hottest fire. Please contact Keith Finn at 890-7028 or orcafinn (AT) core.com.
