Pacelines
by Kathy Hoke
Except for the unusually hardy, most bicyclists hibernate in January or turn to other outdoor pursuits like hiking or cross-country skiing. But some of us use winter's chill to plan for the coming season. By the time you read this, a dynamic trio of women — myself, Debby Evans and Johanna Garber — have put together the 2003 tour schedule. Within days after this newsletter arrives in mailboxes across Central Ohio, several ride leaders will be working out the details of a training course for other current and future ride leaders. These veterans of the road will share their particular skills and wisdom with other ride leaders during two workshops in February. Like a good paceline, the energy of working together will carry us longer and faster than a collection of individuals plowing through the headwinds alone.
You can call me to let me know what you'd like to do to make our 2003 season one of growth, fun and safety. Happy New Year!
