Paddle Clean West Virginia Rivers

On Saturday July 19, Carl Bolyard, Development Director for West Virginia Rivers Coalition (WVRC), will accompany a Columbus Outdoor Pursuit's New River paddling trip. Carl will provide COP paddlers with information regarding environmental issues that may impact the New River basin and other West Virginia waterways.
Many COP paddlers visit the unjustly maligned yet, wow-awe inspiring mountain state of West Virginia regularly. July 19 would be a great opportunity to learn more about the water quality issues in this state and enjoy a fun day of paddling. Carl Bolyard will be in camp during the evening after the day's paddle to hold an informal thirty minute Q&A regarding WVRC and ongoing efforts in public/legislative arena.
COP trip leader Bill Minot will be paddling the "Upper Upper" New River both Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20. This section is usually a good class 2 stretch. And Eric Gehres, another COP trip leader, will be coordinating a trip to travel from Cunard to Fayette Station on the New River, the class 3/4 stretch on both July 19 and 20. As with all whitewater trips, a degree of paddling skill is required to participate in these COP outings. Both Bill and Eric are making plans to camp at Mt. Laurel Campground in Fayetteville. So come join our COP leaders and Carl Bolyard for some fun and educational paddling on the New River!
