Hiking - Thank You! By Pete Rogers I would like to take this opportunity to thank our volunteer hiking leaders. Do you know that ALL of our hikes are lead by volunteers? They commit several months in advance without knowing what the weather may be, who or how many might come. How can you thank them? First of all, show up for a hike! Our leaders really enjoy a good turn out. Don't just be a "fair weather hiker"; the hikes usually go unless the weather presents a danger. Second, thank the leader personally - a pat on the back is really fulfilling. Lastly, volunteer to lead a hike yourself. As a leader, it is nice to just show up and let someone else lead and take responsibility once in a while. If you are new to leading, we have leader training and will help you in selecting a location and getting a description in the newsletter. Some of the recent volunteers include: John Lunn, Earl Reisinger, Tom Worsley, Cheri Worsley, Sheila Sands, Paul Brower, Glen Beachy, Ann Gerckens, Roberta Moore, Art Forgrasher, Larry Staats, Gina Buckey, Pete Rogers, David Latanick, and some others who I'll remember as soon as this goes to print! If it's been awhile since you've led, welcome back. If you're new, welcome in. And if your leading now, just plain thanks! Many Thanks! Pete Rogers is the Columbus Outdoor Pursuits Hiking Chair |
