Bicyclist Steps Forward

By Barb Renick

COP has a new bicycling leader, Jack Hornsby. He is anxious to meet you and get started. Below is a note from Jack. Amongst other credentials that Jack did not mention, he did Tour de Wyoming this year which included a century ride with 8500 feet of climb on the fourth day. He told me he would prefer to have a triple for this if he were to do it again! Feel free to forward this message to others in the bicycling community.

My name is Jack Hornsby and I have recently been appointed to the position of COP Bicycle Chair. At this point I am only beginning to grasp the importance of the job. I have been a casual bicyclist most of my life. However, I only started organized bicycling in 1994 when I rode TOSRV for the first time. For the last two years I have ridden GOBA and have enjoyed bicycle camping very much. I am sixty-two and retired. So, I felt I could contribute to COP by volunteering for this position. My hope is to give back to COP, and the bicycling leadership, by acting as your liaison with COP and providing the office support and logistics needed to keep COP bicycling at the highly respected level it has become. I feel I have a large learning-curve ahead and would appreciate any support and direction you could provide. Over the last week I have ridden four of our daily evening rides and have been very impressed with the leadership and participation. As time permits, I hope to become familiar with each of the COP rides. I would very much enjoy hearing from you and of any concerns or questions. My personal E-mail is jackhornsby (AT) cs.com and my phone number is (614) 877-3085.
