Planning for
this year’s tours is well under way, with the basic Fridge Poster completed and published with
the Ohio Bicycling Federation’s calendar. Some notable changes include The Mid Ohio Century
returning to a full service tour. Sponsors will be providing door prizes and we expect
participants will receive prizes or services in excess of the ride fees. This will be a classic.
Our Delaware hosts will also be providing a major treat on the weekend of October 14-15. The Delaware Double Feature for up to 700 riders will provide Saturday and Sunday loops with indoor or outdoor accommodations for Saturday night. Local hotels are also available. Entertainment and festivities are in planning.
Because of scheduling conflicts for our tour leaders HOOT has been moved up to the second weekend of June rather than the first.
Saturday, March 4 has been scheduled for as the primary date for Ride Leader training. We will schedule an alternate also, if needed. See the meeting section for details. Please contact me if you have an interest.
The Summer Roving Ride Series planning meeting is scheduled to be Friday, February 17 at the COP offices. See the meeting section for details.
Some news about the rider limit in Colorado mentioned last month; The Colorado State Patrol has postponed the rule for another year to address concerns of the Biking community.
Just a reminder for those of you who are interested in buying “Share The Road” license plates; In order for the state to continue selling the plates they require 1000 to be sold during each year. The first year of sales is upon March 22, 2006. I understand that some have encountered trouble getting these plates at local Deputy registrar offices. Apparently they were not listed on the availability list. They are available. However, you must ask for them by their name, “Share the Road”, not bicycle plates. Chuck Smith and the Ohio Bicycle Federation worked for five years to make these plates available. Act now!
