Heart of Ohio Hundred 07
By Donna Bush

We had over 130 riders turn out (don't know exact count), great weather, and a great day. As Al, Melanie and I left to go do our ride at 9:06 a.m. we came upon a couple of the earlier and much faster riders. They were saying they must have gotten turned around somehow. We figured they were going too fast and must of missed the arrows. Well as it turns out, they had a reason to be confused. For much of the beginning part of the ride, most of the way to Amanda (I don't know about after that). Some vandals decided to reek havoc with the arrows, and had taken yellow paint and either repainted them the opposite direction or colored over them totally. I did get an e-mail from one rider, who complemented Al and I for the hard work, and once himself and others got the gist of the fact that someone had vandalized our arrows, he said that they actually started working together to understand where they were on the map...and it was fun. So the upside, is that I think most people had a good time, but that it may have potentially thrown some people off the route. Al and I have already concocted a plan to circumvent these little deviants for next year.

Please somehow put in our apology to folks, and our wishes that they enjoyed the ride despite the vandalism.
