COBAC receives grant from COP
Glenn Beachy, President

The Central Ohio Bicycle Advocacy Coalition, in an effort to expand its work has requested and received a grant of $45,000 from the COP Bicycle Development Fund. This decision was made by the COP board at the June meeting. If certain benchmarks are met, grants of $30,000 and $15,000 will be given in succeeding years. The money is to be used to hire an executive director and to help procure matching grants. COBAC plans to be self sufficient by 2010 through memberships and other sources. John Gideon is the current president of COBAC and has worked very hard over the last few years to promote cycling as recreation and as transportation. We wish success to John, the other board members of COBAC and their volunteers.

Revenue from The Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure goes to the COP Bicycle Development Fund. These were ideas of Ed Honton, past president of COP. The lions share of grants over the years have been to the Ohio to Erie Trail, Ed's other great legacy to cycling in Ohio . Over $400,000 have gone to purchase right of way for the trail.
